THE CUISINE OF THE “CIM I TOMBA” gastronomic campaign

THE CUISINE OF THE “CIM I TOMBA” gastronomic campaign Tossa de Mar, from the 1st to the 30th September 2014 The "cim i tomba" gastronomical campaign takes place every year in Tossa during the month of September. From the 1st until the 30th September, the restaurants adhered to Tossa's Traditional Cuisine offer a special menu consisting of a first course, the "cim i tomba" as a second course, and a desert. The origin of the "cim i tomba" is deeply rooted in Tossa’s fishermen’s tradition. Years ago, when they had to be out at sea for long hours, these men used to take with them some potatoes, vegetables, oil and spices to make their own lunch. When it was time for lunch they threw it all into an iron pot with some freshly caught fish and cooked it all together. When it was nearly finished they added a mixture of mashed garlic and oil in good quantity, letting it boil all together during 2 to 5 more minutes. The result was a very simple fish and vegetable pot, but very good. The "cim i tomba" is now prepared with anglerfish, turbot, cod or skate. The restaurants participating in this year's campaign are: Can Carlus, Can Pini, Capri, Castell Vell, El Petit de Can Carlus, El Portal, La Cuina de l’Àvia, Madrugada, Marina, Marítim, Minerva, Santa Marta, Taverna de l’Abat, Túrsia, Victòria y Víctor. +Info: Tossa de Mar Tourist Office (Costa Brava) - www.infotossa.com
